'Strictly controlled' pilot project will be conducted at two maximum security facilities later this year

Canada's prison guards are going to be able to tame unruly prisoners with a weapon that has been linked to scores of accidental deaths and has raised the ire of civil libertarians. Stun guns are going to be tested in a "strictly controlled and limited" pilot project later this year by Corrections Canada, according to information obtained by The Record through an Access to Information request. The six-month project is set for two maximum-security prisons, including Millhaven Institution near Kingston.
