Iraq Refugees: Largest Movement Since Palestine 1948

It is about time that the UN High Commissioner for Refugees decided to speak about the flood of Iraqis leaving their homes and country due to the chaos and anarchy there.

On Monday, UNHCR launched an appeal for $60 million in emergency aid and said that out of Iraq’s population of 26 million, 1.7 million are internally displaced and two million have fled to nearby countries. This means that one in eight Iraqis has left his home and joined the ranks of internal and external refugees. UNHCR predicts that there will be 2.3 million internally displaced Iraqis by the end of this year. but says nothing about the size of the exodus from Iraq.
