Guatemala, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina)
Over 4,400 Guatemalans were deported from the United States during the first quarter of this year, according to figures revealed by Guatemala s General Immigration Office (DGM) on Wednesday.
This upward trend in repatriations has been seen since mid-2006, in the wake of the Washington s decision to intensify the measures against immigrants and build a wall along the Mexican border to curb immigration from the South. According to DGM, people deported included 3,762 men, 514 women and 192 children.
